Cholas Lighthouse

Cholas Lighthouse is the remnants of a brick-and-mortar lighthouse near Point Calimere which was built by the Cholas more than a thousand years ago. The ruins of a 1000-year-old Cholas lighthouse stand at the site marked 'Point Calimere' (where the Bay of Bengal meets the Palk Strait). There is also a British-period Lighthouse, which is 13- meters (43 ft) tall and was built-in 1890.

Ramar padham

It is located near the entrance of the sanctuary and carries the impressions of Lord Rama's feet in stone. The shrine stands on a small hillock, which is the highest point inside the sanctuary (22 m above MSL). The major congregation takes place during the Ram Navami festival that is celebrated during February/March.

Velankanni

Velankanni , once part of the parish of Nagapattinam, rose to the status of an independent parish in 1771 as the pilgrims' inflow increased. Then, the last parish priest of the Church of the Immaculate Conception was reappointed as the first Parish priest of velankanni . Till the year 1847, the church of Nagapattinam and Vailankanni was looked after by the priests of St. Franciscan Missionaries who also looked after the province of Goa and Mylapore.

Muthupettai Mangrove Forest

The marshy land in Muthupet is the main tourist attraction in this area. This scenic spot is always evergreen with mangrove forest trees, in a sprawling area of 120 square km. It is a wonderful sight for tourists to see the wide expanse of backwater and the mangrove forests dotting the entire area. Along with the deep-rooted mangrove trees, the other kinds of trees like Thandal, Thillai, Narikanthal, Neermulli also grow and add to the beauty of the lagoon.
